PRESENTATION OF RESEARCH REPORT ON ENERGY EFFICIENCY INCENTIVE-BASED MECHANISMS

The Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) has embarked on a series of initiatives to bolster the adoption of energy efficiency policies. Among these efforts is a collaborative research endeavor with the University of British Columbia, Canada, focusing on the introduction of incentive-based regulatory mechanisms for enhancing energy efficiency. Over the past eight months, we have cooperated with a team of researchers from the University of British Columbia and they have presented their findings for this study.

The symposium event for researchers to present their studies and findings was held at the School of Public Policy and Global Affairs of the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, Canada,  and in this event Mr. Tuvshinchuluun.E, Chairman of the Energy Regulatory Commission, alongside other relevant officials have participated.

As part of our collaboration, the research team from the university visited Mongolia in November 2023 to conduct fieldwork. During their stay, they engaged in fruitful discussions with designated Consumers, who play a pivotal role in implementing the Energy Conservation Law.  As a result, it has brought significant importance through comparing the International good practices with the analysis of surveys related to incentive regulation among designated consumers in Mongolia and identified some measures to overcome constraints.

The ERC has also engaged in discussions with Allison M. Macfarlane, Director of the School of Public Policy and Global Affairs at the University of British Columbia, regarding the practical implementation of the research findings. Furthermore, we explored opportunities for project collaboration and cooperation with Canadian and other international organizations, with the aim of fostering expanded partnerships and knowledge exchange in various domains.
