MEETING ON THE ANNUAL REPORT OF THE ENERGY REGULATORY COMMISSION

In accordance with the Energy Law, the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) presented its 2024 Annual Report and an overview of the performance of the energy sector to the Ministry of Energy, as well as to energy enterprises and companies. The meeting, which is organized annually, brought together around 200 representatives from more than 100 enterprises and companies in the sector.

In 2024, Mongolia’s total energy consumption reached 11.6 billion kWh, an increase of 5.9 percent compared to the previous year, while the winter peak load reached 1,655 MW, up 1.2 percent year-on-year. Of the total consumption, 75.3 percent was supplied by domestic generation and 24.7 percent was imported.

It was highlighted during the meeting that in 2024, for the first time, the electricity tariff reached cost recovery level, creating the initial favorable conditions for Mongolia to overcome its energy deficit, attract investment, and ensure the security and reliability of energy supply.
