The Energy Regulatory Commission noted that, as part of its efforts to ensure the sustainable and financially sound operation of the energy sector, the decision to align electricity tariffs with actual costs, implemented in November 2024, has proven effective. This measure has helped restore investor confidence, encouraged consumers to use electricity more efficiently and to adopt renewable energy sources, and has led to positive behavioral changes across the sector.
The progress in introducing smart electricity and heating meters for consumers was also presented. It was emphasized that the rapid implementation of this initiative plays a vital role in reducing distribution losses, strengthening regulatory enforcement, and encouraging consumers to use energy more efficiently. Moreover, it serves as a key foundation for enhancing consumer participation in the energy sector.
Representatives of the World Bank exchanged views on ongoing and jointly implemented projects and reaffirmed their commitment to continued cooperation and support within the framework of upcoming initiatives.
