INTERNATIONAL EXPERTS CONSULT ON TARIFF REFORM

      Energy Regulatory Commission and the World Bank jointly organized a consultation meeting and seminar on " Mongolia Energy Sector Financial Sector Viability Technical Assistance ". This seminar is being held within the framework of the project "Support for the reform of electricity and heat energy tariffs in Mongolia" which is being implemented with the support of the World Bank.

The project has been implemented in our country since September 2022 and will continue for 2 years.

 

       At today's meeting, the World Bank's advisory team presented and exchanged opinions on the methodology of the research model for determining the total cost of the energy sector, as well as the accuracy of data and preliminary conclusions.

          The study of the total costs of the energy sector will be completed in June 2023, and the results of the study will be presented to policy makers and other stakeholders to implement the next steps in the reform of energy tariffs.

           Mr. Alejandro Alcala Gerez, World Bank's Operations Manager, Mr. Yanqing Song, World Bank's Senior Energy Specialist, and the advisory team, ERT coordinators, experts from the Tariff Department, finance, economy and planning of electricity and heat generation, transmission and distribution licensees attended the meeting. representatives of the authorities participated.

    

      Furthermore, during the consultation, the consulting experts of the World Bank shared the experience of reforming energy tariffs in other countries.

       As specified in the "New Revival Policy" implemented by the government, the policy of improving the financial and economic capacity of the energy sector and developing a financially independent independent sector will be implemented through tariff reform.
