On November 24, 2023 the "Empowering Tomorrow’s Energy" forum is successfully held among leaders of the regulatory bodies of the Energy Regulators Regional Association (ERRA) member countries in Istanbul, the capital city of the Republic of Turkey.
The objective of the workshop was to offer an opportunity for regulatory decision makers to obtain information from high level international organizations regarding specific tendencies in energy sector and anticipated developments of energy transformation related to rapid growth of renewable energy, advances technology and climate change.
Mr. Tuvshinchuluun.E, the Chairman of the ERC Mongolia, has participated in the event. During the Forum, they have discussed about impact of policy commitments, technological developments such as artificial intelligence and innovation on energy systems.
The event was attended by Mrs. Maia Melikedze, ERRA Chairperson, Mr. Yailmaz Mustafa, President of the Energy Market Regulatory Authority Turkey and top leaders of Asian Development Bank and other regulatory bodies. The representatives of the countries made speeches and presentations on the forum, exchanged opinions on the challenges faced in their countries and the possibilities of how to overcome them.
Currently for European countries, due to the problems of natural gas shortage, there is a sharp price increase. It was also mentioned that the mix of energy sources is changing. Some countries have restarted their coal-fired power plants. Also, the participants exchanged opinions on the fact that it is becoming difficult to determine the energy consumption forecast as renewable energy sources are put into use on a large scale and consumers have been generating electricity for themselves.
Mr. Tuvshinchuluun.E , Chairman of ERC, has given information about the regulation of the energy sector in Mongolia. The forum was a highly significant event with a wide exchange of information on energy transition and regulation.
